About the School:

The 2.52-kilowatt photovoltaic (PV) system installed at Trinity Lutheran College in 2010 reflects the school’s commitment to educate students, faculty, staff and community members about renewable sources of power. The system is a major element of their Rooftop Garden and Children’s Play Area.

The photovoltaic (PV) system features a single 2.52-kilowatt array of 12 Evergreen 210-watt PV modules. Under full sun conditions, the system could light more than 175 compact fluorescent lights. Over a year, it will produce more than 2,500 kilowatt-hours of clean, renewable energy.

At the time of the project, energy monitoring services provided to the College connected the live performance data from their PV system to students and educators to analyze the system's performance data for educational purposes. A touchscreen kiosk placed within the facility allowed employees and visitors to interact with the system's live performance data while learning about the science and benefits of renewable energy. The College is committed to integrate the renewable energy education resources provided by Solar 4R Schools into their Math, Science, Social Studies, Business, Applied Communication and Religious Studies.
