Dubbed “Pipa Y’ai” (“Sun for Man” in Molalla tribal dialect) the Molalla High School (Oregon) 1.1 kW solar-electric installation is the seventh Solar 4R Schools project to come from BEF’s collaboration with Portland General Electric and Energy Trust of Oregon. Using Molalla’s own system as a model, students are able to study various techniques for mounting residential photovoltaic systems. In addition, by creating a documentary film focused on the installation and operation of the project, the school’s Video Production class utilized the solar-electric system in an equally interesting way.
