Orlo Vista Elementary School’s 1.1 kW PV system was unveiled on August 6th, 2005, during the Hands-On PV Workshop for Women at the American Solar Energy Society’s 2005 Solar World Congress. The installation was sponsored by the Vote For Change Renewable Energy Project, a national effort to raise awareness of the environmental impacts of our energy choices by artists such as Stone Gossard, Pearl Jam, REM, Bonnie Raitt, and the Dave Matthews Band. Orlo Vista’s solar power project includes a curriculum package that uses the system to help teachers instruct students on the benefits of renewable energy.
