Major League Soccer and Continental Tire
|
MLS W.O.R.K.S. Greener Goals, Continental Tire, and the Bonneville Environmental Foundation are joining forces to benefit the environment and our communities. Through the Bonneville Environmental Foundation's Solar 4R Schools program, the partnership will provide a solar electric demonstration project to a school in the community of the MLS Cup winner. Congratulations to the 2011 MLS Cup winners: the Los Angeles Galaxy! Applications for worthy schools were collected during November. Application review and site surveys are under way now. The installation is scheduled to be completed by Earth Week in April of 2012 and will kick off the campaign for the next solar installation in one MLS community in 2013. Thank you to everyone who entered to win a B-Squares Beginner's Kit in the raffle we held at MLS Cup 2011! The raffle winners are: Dennise, who commited to educate people on unplugging their chargers when they aren't in use, and Will, who committed to using cloth bags. Congratulations to both of you! We'd also like to mention a few other notable commitments from Major League Soccer fans. I pledge to shrink my foot by... "...not using the heater as often at home." - Luis "...riding my bike to work twice a week." - Mark "...carpooling to class and work with my roommates." - Melissa "...eating less beef." - Bill "...teaching my students to use less energy, as well as do it myself." - Katie "...using a bicycle instead of a car." - Sergio "...using the metro." - Yessica "...using less water." - Rafael |
