CE partnered with East TN STEM Hub at the University of Tenessee to deliver a hands-on teacher training to 3rd-12th grade teachers from across the Alcoa/Knoxville region in the summer of 2023. Kirsten Woodsmith's 2008 senior project involved forming a committee of adult volunteers to install a photovoltaic (PV) system at Anacortes High School. Even after she graduated and moved on to college, her well-written grant proposal was used by the committee to pursue local funding. The Northwest Clean Air Agency provided the majority of the financial support for the PV system itself, while community members (led by Eric Shen), teachers and students carried out the design and installation process in the summer of 2009.

Animo Pat Brown Accelerated High School is building a community of renewable energy educators thanks to the support and resources provided through their Renewable School project from Solar 4R Schools.
