About the School:

In September of 2006, Barnard Elementary School became one of six beneficiaries of photovoltaic (PV) system projects sponsored by the Vote For Change Renewable Energy Project. The 1.1-kilowatt PV system installed at the school was part of a national effort by artists such as Stone Gossard, Pearl Jam, REM, Bonnie Raitt and the Dave Matthews Band to raise public awareness of the environmental impact of our energy choices.

The Renewable School project provided to Barnard Elementary is designed to build a dedicated community of renewable energy educators within the single and its surrounding district, led by a designated “Teacher Champion.”

As the recipient of a Renewable School project from Solar 4R Schools, educators within Barnard Elementary School received a customized, in-person renewable energy teacher training, a set of hands-on science kit materials to augment the school's existing curricula and complete access to the resources available on the Solar4RSchools.org website.
