Today, Castleford School generated 4 Kilowatt-hours of electricity. From
fossil-fueled sources, this amount of electricity would have emitted 6 lbs of
CO2 into the atmosphere.
This could power:
- An electric toothbrush for 15 weeks
- A 42" plasma-screen television for 7 hours
- A typical video game system for 1 week
The 1.1-kW solar photovoltaic system at the Castleford School is the first local solar project to be supported by subscribers of Idaho Power's Green Power Program and the sixth school to join the Solar 4R Schools program. The system was funded through the Conservation Program Funding Charge, which is paid by all Idaho Power customers. In addition to installing the solar system, the Castleford School undertook energy conservation measures after conducting an energy audit.
