Today, City of Ashland - Police Station generated 11.2 Kilowatt-hours of electricity. From
fossil-fueled sources, this amount of electricity would have emitted 15.7 lbs of
CO2 into the atmosphere.
This could power:
- An electric toothbrush for 44 weeks
- A 42" plasma-screen television for 22 hours
- A typical video game system for 3 weeks
The City of Ashland energized a 63.5 kW PV system located on the roof of the City Service Center covered vehicle parking structure in July 2008, after selecting a proposal from Advanced Energy Systems of Eugene, Ore. The city is offering its citizens and businesses the opportunity to purchase 20 years of output from the system. That output is then paid back as a credit on the purchasers’ electric bills. BEF contributed data monitoring to the project beginning in July of 2008.
