About the School:

Cleveland High School was the eighth project to join the Solar 4R Schools™ program. It was one of four Portland metro area schools to receive a photovoltaic (PV) system installation supported by BEF, the Energy Trust of Oregon and Portland General Electric (PGE) during the first quarter of 2005.

As a Renewable School, Cleveland High School continues to demonstrate a commitment to bring hands-on renewable energy education to its classrooms. The school generates clean energy through the on-site 1-kilowatt photovoltaic (PV) system provided by Solar 4R Schools™. At the time of the project, energy monitoring and touch screen kiosk displayed the system's solar energy data to serve as an interactive an educational tool for classrooms nationwide. In 2006, educators at Cleveland High received a customized renewable energy teacher training, hands-on science kit materials to augment the school's existing curricula and complete access to the resources available on the Solar4RSchools.org website.
