About the School:

The Science Club at Darrington Middle School has had a longstanding interest in public service and community education, with emphasis on air quality and environmentally responsible energy production. The Science Club led several initiatives on campus and within their community including initiating aluminum recycling, participating in solar car races at the Cherry Blossom Festival in Seattle, and several field trips to learn more about regional power generation and renewable energy technologies.

As a Solar 4R Schools™ Renewable School project, educators within Darrington Middle High School have extended their commitment to renewable energy science and education. The school is generating clean energy through their on-site 10-kilowatt photovoltaic system and have leveraged the system's performance data as an educational tool to bring energy topics to life in their classrooms. Educators at Darrington Middle High School received a customized renewable energy teacher training, hands-on science kit materials to augment the school's existing curricula, and complete access to the resources available on the Solar4RSchools.org website.
