Today, Encore Ceramics generated 77 Kilowatt-hours of electricity. From fossil-fueled sources, this amount of electricity would have emitted 108 lbs of CO2 into the atmosphere.

This could power:

  • An electric toothbrush for 5 years
  • A 42" plasma-screen television for 6 days
  • A typical video game system for 22 weeks

Bonneville Environmental Foundation granted Encore Ceramics a loan to cover the costs of equipment and installation for a 29 kW PV system, the sixth-largest PV system in the Northwest at the time. Encore Ceramics wanted to make a start toward energy self-sufficiency for their company. Currently, the system produces approximately 4 percent of their electrical use. The company hopes to install a bigger PV system on their newest building, which was specifically designed to support a 140 kW PV system.
