Everett High School

Grade Level:
9-12
Location:
Everett, WA
PV System Size:
1.00 - kilowatt
About the School:

In December 2012, Everett School District completed the installation of a 0.7-kilowatt photovoltaic (PV) system on the Science Building at Everett High School. The system utilizes thin-film amorphous silicon modules manufactured by Unisolar.

In addition to building a dedicated community of renewable energy educators, the Renewable Classroom PLUS project provided to Everett High School has transformed the school's existing PV system into a hands-on classroom tool. Energy monitoring awarded to the school made live performance data from their PV system available to the community for educational purposes at the time of the project.

Educators at the school also received a customized renewable energy teacher training from Solar 4R Schools™ as well as hands-on science kit materials to augment the school's existing curricula, and complete access to the resources available on the Solar4RSchools.org website. To optimize integration of the renewable energy science and technology content, every aspect of the teacher support provided by Solar 4R Schools™ was customized to the unique focus of the school community, including topics covered in the teacher training as well as our recommendations for activities and science kit materials.
