Sparked by a solar-power enthusiast and former schoolteacher, Seattle Green Power's system at Meridian Park Elementary School was the City of Shoreline's first public solar project. Meridian's 2.4 kW system - Green Power's largest and most powerful system located at a school - is affixed atop the music building.
In 2008, Solar 4R Schools installed a weather system and provided educators with activity guides, science kits, and onsite training to assist them in integrating renewable energy education into their curriculum.
