Today, Mountlake Terrace Transit Center generated 0.9 Kilowatt-hours of electricity. From
fossil-fueled sources, this amount of electricity would have emitted 1.3 lbs of
CO2 into the atmosphere.
This could power:
- An electric toothbrush for 3 weeks
- A 42" plasma-screen television for 1 hour
- A typical video game system for 1 day
The Mountlake Terrace Transit Center was designed to incorporate a number of environmentally friendly features, including a 32-panel photovoltaic solar installation, which generates electricity for the regional power grid. The panels generate enough electricity annually to power an average PUD home for nearly six months. A public information kiosk installed at the site will provide information about the solar power project, including a real-time display of the energy generation. This project was funded by the PUD in partnership with the Bonneville Environmental Foundation.
