Decreased water quality, increased energy useage, rising levels of air pollution, more invasive species and ever-increasing habitat fragmentation are all evidence of our pressing need to learn to balance our individual wants with the need to sustain a healthy environment. The Environmental Education and Community Center is on the campus of the Brightwater Wastewater Treatment Plant, a water recycling facility that transforms wastewater into clean water, produces energy and creates biosolids. Through the USGBC LEED Platinum certified Center, we model energy efficiency while hosting and delivering educational programs that build environmental knowledge, skills and abilities in our visitors. In modeling positive leadership, good stewardship and excellent teaching we strive to create leaders who will sustain our community and our environment.
