Live Solar Electric Generation

Bonneville Environmental Foundation logo

Bonneville Environmental Foundation provided educational materials and project management services for this project through its Solar 4R Schools program. BEF, a non-profit organization, was established in 1998 to restore watershed ecosystems and further the development and use of renewable energy resources. Through revenues generated from the sales of green power products, BEF funds and manages projects that restore damaged watersheds and support new renewable energy.

Bonneville Power Administration is a federal nonprofit agency based in the Pacific Northwest. Although BPA is part of the U.S. Department of Energy, it is self-funding and covers its costs by selling its products and services. BPA markets wholesale electrical power from 31 federal hydro projects in the Columbia River Basin, one nonfederal nuclear plant and several other small nonfederal power plants. The dams are operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Bureau of Reclamation. About one-third of the electric power used in the Northwest comes from BPA.

Columbia River People’s Utility District (PUD) is a community-owned utility providing safe, reliable electric service to 18,300 customers in Columbia County and northern Multnomah County, Oregon.  The PUD’s Energy Experts offer a wide variety of energy efficiency and renewable energy programs to help customers use energy wisely.

Thanks!

Through strong partnerships, local communities are having a position of influence on global issues.

Rainier School District #13 would like to thank Columbia River PUD for funding this project and Bonneville Environmental Foundation for providing project management and educational materials. By choosing non-polluting, renewable energy and protecting important natural resources, we are making a difference in the health of our community and environment, now and for generations to come. It is our hope that this project will inspire students to pursue careers and make decisions that make our world a better place.
