About the School:

As part of a series of initiatives to promote solar energy in the community, the Snohomish County PUD installed one of the county’s largest photovoltaic (PV) systems (as of July 2009) at its Everett, Washington headquarters. As part of a series of initiatives to promote solar energy in the community, the Snohomish County PUD installed one of the County’s largest solar photovoltaic systems at its Everett headquarters in 2009. The 10-kilowatt system will produce nearly enough energy for an average PUD customer’s home. A total of 54 photovoltaic modules were installed on the south side entryway and adjacent rooftop at the PUD office building. The system includes an interactive display in the PUD’s lobby that provides visitors with real-time and cumulative output of the solar panels including daily, weekly, monthly and annual system production.

Energy monitoring services provided to Snohomish PUD by Solar 4R Schools connected the live performance data from their PV system to the Energy Exploration Center at Solar4RSchools.org. Students and educators nationwide can chart, graph and analyze the system's performance data for educational purposes. A touchscreen kiosk located within the facility lobby allows employees, customers and visitors to interact with the system's live performance data while learning about the science and benefits of renewable energy.
