Today, Blachly-Lane County Electric Association generated 1.1 Kilowatt-hours of electricity. From
fossil-fueled sources, this amount of electricity would have emitted 1.5 lbs of
CO2 into the atmosphere.
This could power:
- An electric toothbrush for 4 weeks
- A 42" plasma-screen television for 2 hours
- A typical video game system for 2 days
The solar photovoltaic system installed at Blachly-Lane's office will provide local schools and our members valuable information on solar energy. The system is ground-mounted and easily accessible for viewing. The location has an unobstructed view to the south and provides optimum solar exposure. Joining forces with the Bonneville Environmental Foundation for project funding and design enabled Blachly-Lane to offer the Solar for Schools program at a central location with data available over the internet. School groups, community groups and members benefit by having a location where they can compare energy generated, physical size and layout of the system, and financial and environmental considerations.
