Today, Liberty High School generated 3.6 Kilowatt-hours of electricity. From
fossil-fueled sources, this amount of electricity would have emitted 5.0 lbs of
CO2 into the atmosphere.
This could power:
- An electric toothbrush for 14 weeks
- A 42" plasma-screen television for 7 hours
- A typical video game system for 1 week
Liberty High School received a 2.02 kW system in August 2009 thanks to a grant from Puget Sound Energy. The system is mounted on a dual-axis tracker and Enphase microinverter technology, thanks to support from the Issaquah Schools Foundation, which allows the solar arrays to track the sun as it moves through the sky.
The Solar 4R Schools curriculum and data monitoring will complement the array and augment Liberty High's ongoing renewable energy education programs.
